A brief history of my creative journey of seeing, documenting, and creating the things and experiences I want to see in the world.

An introduction

My graphic design career began at age 10, in a foreign land, documenting my life with a Kodak Instamatic.

I am a photographer.

But have also been a Skate King DJ (and floor guard), radio broadcaster, barista, shipper/receiver, cook, server, and summer camp counselor.

Seeing

When I was 10 we moved to Saudi Arabia for 4 years. My Dad gave me my first camera to document our life overseas.

I’ve been capturing the beauty of the natural and man-made worlds around me ever since.

Creating things I wanted to experience: I used a blanket and some rope to create a hammock chair in our side patio

When I was 13 Dad gave me his 35mm Ricoh KR-5. I began documenting our life back in the States.

Family, friends, nature, texture, light, motion… the geometry of designs found in the natural and material world.

What I loved the most was exploring not just the split second of a moment, but an elongated moment of time, where still objects are juxtaposed with the movement of people and things.

An ‘otherness’ was created, something unexpected, something not completely explained. It invited interpretation, and imagination.
