A re-imagined skate park needed a new, fresh look
In December of 2021 I was asked by our local Bainbridge Island Parks & Trails Foundation to join a seven-person community committee to help select a designer and builder of an exciting new park expansion: the expansion and re-imagining of our historic skate park at Strawberry Park.
First built in 2001 with funds supplied by our local Rotary Club, the skate bowl has been a destination spot for skaters from all over the world. Now it’s time to create a more inclusive place for people of all abilities. A focus on street skating (stairs, ledges, handrails) will give street skaters many opportunities to grow their skills.

Currently, the plans have been approved by the Parks & Trails Foundation with input by the local community, and we are in a private fundraising phase.
I created a logo and identity for the park to help promote the park expansion. It’s exciting to see this project coming to life!

Concept for marketing and promoting the four phases of the project: the planning, designing, building, and enjoyment phases. We are currently in the first two phases, with plans designed and approved, and some private fundraising efforts currently in play. I’m stoked to see this project come completely to life!

Park design concept created by Grindline and approved by the Bainbridge Island community and Parks & Trails Foundation. The approved layout integrates a 16,660-square-foot urban street-plaza and an undulating pump track wrapping around the historic, preserved 2001 bowl.
